Know what you keep before you send the invoice

It's easy to forget that a $1,000 invoice doesn't put $1,000 in your pocket. After processing fees you might keep around $965 on PayPal or $971 on Stripe — and on small or cross-border payments the gap is bigger. This calculator does the arithmetic both ways so there are no surprises when the payout lands.

In "how much will I receive" mode, enter what the client pays and pick a processor; it shows the fee and the net you keep, plus the effective fee rate. In "what should I invoice" mode, enter the amount you need to net and it tells you the gross to charge so the fee comes out of the client's payment, not yours.

Typical 2026 processor fees (editable in the tool)

ProcessorCommon rateNotes
PayPal (Goods & Services)3.49% + $0.49+ ~1.5% cross-border surcharge
Stripe (standard card)2.9% + $0.30+ ~1.5% on international cards
Wise (receiving)variesdepends on currency & route — edit it
Payoneer (card payment)~3.0%plus withdrawal fees in some cases

Fees change and vary by country, currency and account type. The calculator pre-fills these but every field is editable so you can match your real rate — these are estimates, not a quote from the providers.

Frequently asked questions

Is this payment fee calculator free?
Yes, completely. It runs in your browser with no account and nothing uploaded. There is no paid version of the calculator itself.
How do I charge so I receive an exact amount?
Use reverse mode. For a percent p plus fixed fee f, to net N you invoice (N + f) / (1 − p). To net $1,000 on Stripe that's about $1,030.18. The tool does it for you.
How much does PayPal or Stripe take?
As of 2026, commonly PayPal 3.49% + $0.49 and Stripe 2.9% + $0.30 on US card payments, plus cross-border surcharges. Rates vary — edit them to match your account.
Why is the fee on small payments so high?
The fixed fee dominates. $0.49 is ~5% of a $10 payment but a rounding error on $1,000. The tool shows the effective rate so you can see it.
Is my data private?
Completely. Zero network requests — your amounts stay on your computer.
